Back At It

footinmouthMy absence can be explained. And babysitting doesn’t count.

Excuse Number One: I’m back in school. Taking two classes, both them rather writing-intensive. English 101 (sigh; FINALLY) and History of American Film. Now, even with all that writing, I still should be able to come up with a blog once in awhile, but for…

Excuse Number Two:  Blockage. Have had trouble writing. No trouble with creativity, or thoughts, or ideas for what to write; just haven’t been able to start. It’s like this… if I don’t perceive that I have enough time to put into a writing project, no matter how small, I won’t start it. It’s a rut, I know, perpetuated by…

Excuse Number Three:  Identity. My blog doesn’t know what it is, or what it wants. Does it want to opine? Reminisce? Inform? Entertain? Bore people to death? This not-knowing-what-kind-of-content-I want is debilitating in itself. Readers, I understand, prefer consistency, and entertainment. What I had for lunch or how I cussed out another driver isn’t interesting, to me or to anyone else.

So, henceforth, I’ve made a plan to stick to a rudimentary routine. We’ll see if it works.

Meanwhile, it’s back to eating chocolate and watching the world go by.

Is that baby toes you’re kissing? Baby toes are my favorite delicacy! As far as your blog goes, it is good to see you. I think your readers would love to hear about your writing classes (what a great writer gets out of a class like English 101. Learn anything new? Any insights? Plans for future projects?) Let it rip! We’re listening!

It started off as kissing baby toes, but I also wonder if he was just trying to shut me up! 🙂 All that baby talk! Gimme a break, Gramma!

My English class is fun – and online. I have a great professor. Having been a writer for so long, it’s interesting for me to go back and learn the nuts and bolts of argumentative and persuasive writing, and formats like MLA and APA. I’m quite angst-ridden when I turn in my work.

My film class is just a lark. This is the third one I’ve taken. We have a beautiful theater/classroom at our college, new and upscale technology, cushy seats, etc. My class is 3 hours on Fridays. We see a film, discuss it, discuss the era, then we go home and write a short paper on it. We have one big group project to do and one final. Sheesh. Like that’s hard? 🙂

I have 4 more classes to take to get my degree. A lot depends on the availability of classes, as you probably experience there in Florida as well, our schools are just hobbling along, struggling with horrendous budget cuts.

And thanks, so much, for listening!!
