There is a philosophy – maybe that’s too strong a word – among some writers that a Facebook page or group is just as good or better than a website, so many have abandoned all but the most rudimentary website offering. It’s a lot of work to keep up both, right? So I did that. Not to mention, in 2016 I took an unexpected leap back into conventional employment, a job that lasted until I returned it for store credit last month. I’m back.
It’s now 2019, and I am returning to my former life of writing now and again. This means that I do intend to work on the website and give a minor kick-start to my literary career. It’s kind of having locked a whole part of your life in a dusty basement room with no windows. You go back, unlock the door, and try to find your last manuscript. You open the windows to air it out. You try to pick up a frequency on an old AM radio. You find your old works and sit down in the corner and unintentionally start to read them. Some words make you cringe, others spark a smile. I’m not all bad. Not all good either.
Eventually you realize you’ve been sitting in that basement for hours, and it’s time to come up for air. Time to start something new. So that’s what I’m going to do.
