Welcome to the WHISPER CAPE TRILOGY blog stop at Beacon Street! As you might know, author Susan Griscom has been making the rounds this past couple of weeks, and everyone’s talking about her new release, A SECRET FATE. We thought we’d shake it up a little and interview Whisper Cape’s heroine, Addison McKenna!
Well, Addison. It’s been awhile since we’ve had a chance to talk. The last I remember, you were distraught, no, devastated is more the word, at Cael’s disappearance. It seems that Gerry, a man you’ve trusted and cared for as an uncle, used magic to alter Cael’s memories in such a way that he might not remember that he’d ever met you, much less loved you. Coupled with the fact that you weren’t sure Cael would even get back, how did you feel about Gerry’s actions? Did it change your relationship?
Answer: No. I could hardly blame Gerry. After all, Cael told him to do it. There is no point in blaming anyone but Finn. I just wish Gerry hadn’t gone back in time so far. He could have just wiped a few weeks or even a month away and that would have worked as far as I’m concerned. Five years is a long time. Gerry had his reasons for wanting to remove so much of Finn’s memory though.
Cael’s absence left a huge hole in your life, leaving the path clear for Aiden to help pick up the pieces of your shattered life. When Aiden approached you while you were in the depths of despair, you tried to turn him away, but he wore you down with a tasty offer. Share what he brought, how you reacted, and why.
Answer: Well, I can tell you I wasn’t very nice. In fact, I was very rude. I didn’t want anything to do with the mam and I didn’t want or need his pity or sympathy. I knew deep down how Aiden felt about me. I also know what type of man Cael is and how he would have reacted if he came home and found Aiden in his house even if it was just to offer food. But I have a traitorous stomach when it comes to a juicy steak, particularly since I hadn’t eaten much of anything for a week or so.
The birthday party. A pivotal moment in your story. You’re there, trying hard to enjoy Breena’s tenth birthday celebration, and in walks the man who’s made all your dreams come true. Overwhelmed with love and relief, you start to rush forward but are held back. Did you think Maia’s actions were justified?
Answer: Absolutely. Especially now that I look back on the moment and the way Cael reacted to me later on. It was a wise decision to keep a low profile at that time.
Okay, any more than that will be spoilers! Let’s talk about you and Cael. Ahhh…. Cael. What kind of man is he? Let’s say it’s your birthday and Cael wants to get you a gift. Would he be most likely to… stop in at Macy’s or Victoria’s Secret… take you on a hike with a backpack full of gourmet food and wine… or throw you a surprise party at Gerry’s bar?
Answer: Haha. I bet Cael would do all three. He loves to cook and so I’m sure he would prepare the perfect picnic basket. He’d most likely give me sexy lingerie before the party though, just so he could peel it off later.
You’re down with a bad cold. Cael has already committed to meeting Siena on important Sectorium business. Would Cael… cancel the meeting with Mom and stay by your side? … Hire a nurse to be at your beck and call until he can return home? … Ask Siana to come to your house and hold the meeting there?
Answer: Hmmm. I don’t think Cael would be meeting with Siana on important business without me since we are a team now so I’m going to go with the third option. Besides, Siana needs to visit us more often anyway.
Last, tell us a secret about this luscious hunk of lovechops; something no one else knows, not even Susan! There has to be some little tidbit about Cael that only his lover, the woman of his heart, his lifelong soulmate would know… Give it up to us!
Answer: Oh, really? Gosh. Um … let me think. Oh, okay this is top secret and he would be so upset if he knew I told you because, well, he has an image to uphold. Cael is extremely ticklish on his back. I can touch him firmly there, even run my nails down his back in the heat of passion and it doesn’t bother him, but if I gently skim my fingers down him too lightly, he squirms and can’t control his laughter. It’s really quite amusing and sets me off in an uncontrollable giggle..
Addie, thanks for taking the time to talk with us today. I know A SECRET FATE may be the last we hear about you for a while, but I also know your fans will keep the pressure on Susan to bring them up to date on your life with Cael, Gerry & Maia. So don’t get too comfortable, girlfriend!

Celebrating the end of a trilogy is bittersweet. I love all the characters in the Whisper Cape series, but Cael and Addison own my heart and always will. Without them, I don’t think I would have become an author. At least not a published one. A Secret Fate, book three is now available.

“I don’t think he got shot. I’m not sure exactly what happened to Cael. When the bullet hit me, I lost balance. He might have received some of my …”
“What? No!” Her face paled and she fought to take in air.
“Breathe,” he said, stroking her back as Maia walked up and stood by her other side.
“I don’t understand.” Her voice was barely a whisper. She walked to where Cael had wrestled with Finn. “What sort of memory were you sending?”
“That’s the problem.” Gerry shook his head. He didn’t want to have to tell Addie that she might never see Cael again.

She sighed. “That was amazing.” Resting her head on his chest, she leaned her face to his and kissed him, gently, softly, then closed her eyes and rested her head. They stayed that way, silent, for a while.
